The Great Director

Thanks to the efforts of the production team of the summer comedy "The Great Director" we can now bring you a few stills from the production. These should whet your appetite for the real thing. You can view these as a slideshow located on the member's media gallery page. This production is due for release later this year - once the censors provide a certificate! Watch this web site for further announcements.

Ken's last Punch and Judy show

Ken Dalston's "Swan Song" Punch and Judy Show took place at the Laleham Village Fair on Saturday 3 July 2010. Ken wanted to make a video record of his puppets and his audience (children and adults) to commemorate the event, and to be a chronicle of a performance of his Punch and Judy show for the family archives!

Five members of the society turned up with their cameras, together with an official SCVS photographer to record the event. The weather was perfect and the audience was good - at least most of them! The whole event was filmed and now all Ken has to do is to edit down the 5 recordings to a single video. He may not have so much free time after all!

Meanwhile you can view the slideshow located on the member's media gallery page to get a flavour of the event.

Changes arising from AGM

Following our AGM on 14 May, we have now reduced our weekly meetings to just one a month until the new season starts on Friday 3rd September. Our three summer meetings are:

Friday 11 JuneKen Ferguson's Night
Friday 9 JulyOpen Meeting
Friday 11 AugustShow from Hemel Hempstead MM

Fot more details of each of these evening events please see the Events calendar.

Following the very sad loss of our President Dennis Vaulkhard who died in February this year, Ken Ferguson was elected our new President on 14 May. Ken has spent most of his life closely involved in film making and having previously been our Chairman for 19 years, we are very proud to have him fulfilling this top role.

Roy Bowley, who for many years has been our Technical Secretary, has stepped down from this position and has become our new Vice President. The very high standards he and his team achieved in projecting our films has been well recognised by members and visiting clubs. Our new Technical Secretary is Roger Crunden and we wish him the best of luck.

2009/10 was a very successful year under the leadership of Jeremy Holder. Although he has kindly agreed to be Chairman for another year, we may soon have to look for another one, as Jeremy and his wife Liz are now planning to move home down to Hampshire.

During this summer, some of our members will be making a group comedy under the leadership of Graham Large and Tim Stannard and later this year, some of our top film makers hope to make a club documentary of the history and architecture of Royal Holloway, the London University.
